Overview
DAREM, with funding from Integrated Youth Empowerment Center (IYEC), organized a one day project called “Speak Out For Peace.” The project brought together 15 Indigenous Mbororo youths and aimed to create a safe space for participants to share their painful stories and experiences. In addition to sharing their stories, participants in need received psychosocial support, promoting intra-personal peace and trauma healing. Activities included a post interpretation exercise to critically examine situations and obtain accurate information before spreading news. Lectures on empathy were also provided, emphasizing the importance of actively listening to someone sharing a sad situation. The workshop concluded positively, with participants expressing satisfaction and relief.
To create and provide a trusted environment where participants could share their painful stories and experiences and receive counseling which enhanced their intra-personal peace and trauma healing.
